About This Handbook
This handbook is part of our terms and conditions. It applies to every training programme, and to the Arclight Internship alongside the Internship Agreement. Where it repeats something in the terms, the terms take priority.
Lectures and Attendance
The training runs 8 weeks from your batch's start date, with two live lectures a week (16 in all). A recording of each is in your portal within 48 hours, but attending live is how you get your questions answered.
Tasks unlock week by week in your portal. Each month ends in a project your mentor reviews, and the second is a capstone you present and defend.
Weekly Assessments
Every week ends in an assessment of 90 to 120 minutes, on the Saturday or Sunday you choose in your portal. Attending is mandatory. It has three parts: multiple choice (20%), a practical challenge (60%) and a walkthrough of your own code (20%).
- The pass mark is 50%. Below it, you sit a re-evaluation within 48 hours, by Tuesday evening, and the better of your two attempts counts.
- Failing 2 first attempts in a row brings a mandatory review with your mentor, who looks at whether your track is the right fit.
- The Certificate of Training needs every week passed and an overall average of 50% or more.
- The free Arclight Internship is offered to trainees who also present and defend their capstone, with no breach of the integrity rules: pass every weekly assessment, keep an overall average of 50% or more, present and defend your capstone, no breach of the academic integrity rules.
Missing an assessment without a reason we accept counts as an attempt with no marks. If you're ill or have an emergency, tell us through the Help page as soon as you can and we'll arrange a re-evaluation slot.
Live Proctoring
Proctoring is live: an Arclight invigilator watches your camera and shared screen in real time. Nothing is recorded or stored, and the session ends as soon as your assessment does.
- Keep your webcam on and share your whole screen for the entire session.
- Use one monitor, in a quiet room, with no one else helping you.
- You show a photo ID to the camera before you start. We look at it and don't keep a copy.
- Close other apps, tabs and notifications before you start, because your screen is visible.
- No face recognition or automated monitoring is used: a person watches, and only during the assessment.
If you lose your connection, rejoin straight away and tell the invigilator. A missed proctoring rule is noted against that attempt; it isn't an integrity breach unless it was deliberate.
Academic Integrity
- Your work must be your own. Copying, sharing answers, or submitting someone else's code is plagiarism.
- Use AI tools only where your brief allows it, and say how you used them. During assessments, no AI help is allowed unless the question says so.
- Don't switch to other tabs or apps, look things up or get help from anyone during an assessment.
A breach scores zero for that attempt, and a trainee with a breach on any attempt isn't offered the internship. Repeated or serious breaches go through the suspension process in the terms, and can lead to a document being withdrawn.
Appeals
If you disagree with an assessment result, a mentor review or an integrity decision, appeal in writing within 7 days of hearing it, through the Help page in your student portal (students.arclight.co.in/help) (choose Appeal). Say what you're appealing and why, with anything that supports it.
Someone other than the mentor who graded or reported you decides the appeal, usually within 10 working days, and tells you the outcome and the reasons in writing.
Adjustments and Accessibility
If a disability, health condition or other circumstance makes the standard format unfair for you, ask for an adjustment through the Help page (choose Accessibility) at least 7 days before the assessment. We'll agree what works with you, for example extra time, breaks, an assistive tool or screen reader, or a different format for the code walkthrough. What you tell us is shared only with the people who arrange it.
Conduct and Harassment
Be respectful to mentors, invigilators and other students, in sessions, messages and groups. Don't record sessions, share other students' details, or use our groups to sell to or recruit anyone.
If anyone harasses you, report it through the Help page in your student portal (students.arclight.co.in/help) (choose Harassment) or write to info@arclight.co.in with "Harassment" in the subject. It's handled in confidence by someone not involved, and you won't be penalised for a report made in good faith.
If Something Goes Wrong
Before we suspend you or close your account, we tell you in writing what we believe happened, give you at least 5 working days to respond, and decide in writing, through someone not involved. Where there's a serious risk to others, we may pause your access while this happens. You can appeal the decision as above.
Certificates and Letters
Your Enrolment Confirmation arrives when you pay, your Certificate of Training when you pass the training, and, if you qualify, an Internship Letter when you're offered the internship and an Internship Completion Certificate when you finish it. Letters of Recommendation go to top performers. Every document carries a QR code anyone can scan to verify it.
